The Texas Rangers had a great year, received plenty of post season honors...ALL except for the Manager of the Year, which Ron Washington deserved. BUT now, we need the big one...The Signing of CLIFF LEE to a contract to be the ace of the Texas Rangers for years to come. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED AND GIVE IT YOUR BEST MOJO!!!!!

THIS IS SHORT, SWEET & TO THE POINT.....WHAT DO I KNOW? THE BOYS PLAYED LIGHTS OUT..LITERALLY...THE LIGHTS WENT OUT!! I AM TRULY PROUD OF THEM AND IT WAS A GREAT WIN. I LEAVE WITH ONE QUESTION... WHERE WAS THIS EFFORT IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS, AND AS FAR AS I KNOW IT IS THE SAME ROSTER. SORRY WADE!!!!!

We are nearing the end of the first week without WADE PHILLIPS as coach of the COWBOYS. TO BE UP FRONT--I think the team totally QUIT on WADE.

Coach Phillips record as Cowboy coach speaks for itself. First playoff win for the COWBOYS in 13 years, conference championships,winning percentages...win/loss record. All and all he has done a lot for the club in the last few years and was given a contract extension last year.

BOOM....he is gone and in steps the JASON GARRETT era....HERE COME CHANGES A PLENTY!!!

Players will wear ties on the plane--no more card games and dominoes in the locker room, AND the big change, THEY WEAR PADS AND PANTS IN PRACTICE.

With all these big changes, I can see us going 8-0 the second half of the season. BULL...S****!

The real problems lie within the dog in this team. They were put on a pedestal--told they were really good and going to be the first team to play and be expected to win a SUPERBOWL in their home stadium. Without Tony Romo, the OFFENSE doesn't click. Sorry, John Kitna is a back up for a reason and hadn't taken a snap in two years.

Cause he is no good--slow interception machine, poor decision maker...need I say more?

We should be looking at NUMBER THREE...quarterback...drawing a blank...SORRY AGGIE FANS....see if he is starter material or just your average backup.

TRY TO FIND OUT WHO CAN PLAY--WHO CAN'T, GET A GOOD DRAFT PICK, HIRE A GREAT COACH, and GET USED TO THE IDEA THAT THE PACQUIAO/MARGARITO CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT is going to draw more fans to the stadium than the DALLAS COWBOYS WILL THE REST OF THE YEAR.

WOW....LOST FOR WORDS

My mind is running in so many directions....it has started to sink in ...we the TEXAS RANGER FANS are going to the WORLD SERIES. The game has been over for 21/2 hours and the buzzzzzzzzzz on the radio is still going strong. The home station THE FAN that carries the games has the entire staff from all the daily shows talking in a forum and word has it , they may go all night. NEVER...NEVER...have we had baseball talk in OCTOBER, we were lucky if they ever played a meaningful game in SEPTEMBER, BUT ....I can't stop saying it, WE ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!! How sweet it is.

I have grown up a lifelong fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and a Houston Oiler, NOT Texan, and now Dallas Cowboy fan, BUT my passion has always been baseball. As a teenager just barely driving, I would plan trips from Oklahoma to Arlington to see THE TEXAS RANGERS. I would literally wait until they played a double header on a Saturday and a Sunday afternoon game, make the trip and usually stay in a Motel 6 ( We'll leave the lights on for you) That will probably date me with that statement. Nothing better than baseball on a warm afternoon...... did I say warm? It was usually 100 degree plus....damn hot to be more specific. I got to see the late, great Billy Martin, then managing the team by day and punching out marshmallow salesmen by night...the great Toby Harrah, Jim Sunberg......on and on. The great Charlie Hough with his goofy nuckleball, hiding in the dugout between innings sneaking a smoke. They usually lost, but it was baseball, and everyday brought a new hope.

I could talk your ears off about the Rangers, my years as an employee...from ushering to supervising speed pitch machines, to transition into the new park to phone ticket sales... Just to much to say....maybe at a later time....WE ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!! Not just with BATS....we have PITCHING......GO RANGERS!!!!!

CLIFF IS THE MAN.......

WOW.....I still can't believe what I am seeing. YOU take the 8th inning away from game one and I can't imagine how badly we have WOOOOOPED up the New York Yankees. This team is so PUMPED...do I dare suggest they SWEEP the YANKEES in NEW YORK ....AND .... not even have to return home to the friendly confines of Arlington Stadium for a win. NAAAW... better not get that big headed, but it sure is nice to wish and day dream. The Powers to Be in The Rangers Organization need to back the BRINKS TRUCK up and give CLIFF LEE whatever he wants. He is the most dominating pitcher I have seen personally since watching Nolan Ryan pitch at the old ballpark. I was an employee of the Rangers at that time and probably saw most of the home games for several years, and watching and listening as Ryan pitched, hearing the echo of a loud grunt following each pitch .......WOW... CLIFF LEE has that same baseball IQ and determination. Well tomorrow is another day... CLAWS and ANTLERS UP....GET 'EM RANGERS.........

EYE ON THE PRISE......NEW RANGERS

I'm here to tell you....these last two RANGER/YANKEE games have been both Invigorating and Nerve Racking. Being a Die Hard Ranger fan and a Realist,.......Going into this series I would have taken a split as a totally successful home stand against the World Champion YANKEES,...HOWEVER , we should be 2-0. The great CC Sabathia, with his clown looking uniform, his TOTALLY out of proportion baby ears, sitting on top of that gigantic head,...was so ORDINARY. CJ WILSON, calmly pitched a great 6 innings and our BULLPEN let us down. Defensively we were nearly stellar, except for CJ's lackadaisical covering of first base...Kinsler's brain freeze...getting picked off at first and Mike Young felling to get in front of a playable hit at third. ALL THIS BEING SAID... I am so proud of them and besides all that, they are the best RANGER TEAM EVER ..and THEY WILL GET IT DONE IN NEW YORK!!! We are going to win TWO of THREE there and save the ONE WIN needed for back home in front of the HOME CROWD!!! LEE is the man and I am predicting a 3 to 1 win for the RANGERS with LEE THROWING a 5 hitter. GO RANGERS,... YOU GREAT RANGER FANS CAN REST UP ON THE SABBATH and take in a sometimes entertaining football game this afternoon and see which COWBOY team shows up!!!!!!! UNTIL MONDAY NIGHT...............................................

ONE WIN....TEXAS RANGERS......THE TEXAS RANGERS HAVE DONE THE UNTHINKABLE....Game one of the first round of Playoffs at TROPICANA FIELD AGAINST THE "RAYS" and possibly this years CY YOUNG WINNER , David Price....goes to the TEXAS RANGERS.....they looked like a seasoned playoff team and did everythingright. CLIFF LEE got the win and now you know the reason the RANGERS picked him up.....He is money in the bank for POST SEASON.

NELSON CRUZ.....hit one out that landed on the roof of the outfield restaurant, becoming the first person since 2005 to swing at a pitch ...3-0 and homer in post season. BENGIE MOLINA ... hit only his THIRD HOMERUN of the year. JOSH HAMILTON, wearing a flack jacket to protect his broken ribs , stretches a single into a double as he dove into the base. The whole team looks like a SEASONED PLAYOFF TEAM...Believe me. the rest of the league has taken notice and probably want nothing of them in the playoffs.

I KNOW IT IS ONLY ONE GAME......but DAMN they look good. Let me know what you think. GO RANGERS..... DO I DARE BRING OUT MY BROOM???????????

WHAT A GREAT WIN FOR THE SOONER NATION!!! It was a nice win by the Sooners, and probably should have been by a larger margin, but a win is a win. The big question, if you are a LONGHORN fan .....what is up with the Texas team???????? They definitely miss Colt McCoy and Shipley. Both were great Longhorns and will have great careers with their prospective teams. HOWEVER, this team is nothing special and has all kind os holes in both offense and defense. THE BIGGER ISSUE.....the LONGHORNS have to travel to LINCOLN NEBRASKA next week and face a CORNHUSKER team that is rated higher than OKLAHOMA. Wow, They could be facing a ......THREE GAME LOSING STREAK........I can't remember the last time that happened to them......Good thing Mack Brown signed that new contract.....Texas regents aren't always that patient. WELL ALL IS WELL WITH THE WORLD...THE COWBOYS GOT A WIN!!! The talk in Dallas this week on talk shows and on network sports was about the firing of Wade Phillips after the Texan game win or lose. The source was a blog writter out of CANADA OF ALL PLACES. If not for the cheap touchdown after the game is REALLY over, the COWBOYS would have pitched a shutout of sorts, giving up only field goals to the high powered TEXAN OFFENSE...joke... The defense of the COWBOYS, coached by WADE PHILLIPS KICKED THEIR COLLECTIVE BUTTS. Wade will live to coach another day, or should I say another DALLAS COWBOY GAME!!

SEPTEMBER 25....WHAT A DAY.....!!!

Today...will be short but sweet. Being a SOONER fan, was a good day, but seeing the LONGHORNS get beating Sooooooooo badly by UCLA, does my heart good. I have a soft spot in my heart for COLT McCOY, because he is a good kid and I wish him nothing but good things in the NFL. I think eventually he will rise to the top because he truly is a talent. THE HORNS TEAM as a whole , we'll see them next week in the best college football game in college football...OKLAHOMA/TEXAS ..SHOOT-OUT... in the COTTONBOWL!!!! We better enjoy this atmosphere....because like everything else in sports in will end up being played in the.... JERRY DOME. OH YEAH....."HOW ABOUT THOSE TEXAS RANGERS....WESTERN CHAMPS. All is well with the world. The Texas Rangers have just SWEPT the NEW YORK YANKEES. The Oklahoma Sooners won a meaningful game against a ranked team and hopefully the COWBOYS WIN ONE TONIGHT!!!!! It was sooooooo nice to beat the Yankees, espically with the prospects of playing them in the playoffs. This should give them something to think about in post season. I sure hope CLIFF LEE is back with a strong BACK. I know the Rangers have been playing like crap, but the good thing is, NO ONE ELSE WANTS OUR DIVISION........Our only playoff experience in club history is against the Yankees and they always kick our asses. This is a new year and the best RANGERS team ever. Leave Josh Hamilton on the bench to get completely healthy, so he can carry us down the stretch run. Nelson Cruzzzzzzz as hot as any player in the American League......V. Guerroro's bat is back to life.....I. Kinsler and D. Murphy are healthy and having timely hits. CJ Wilson will round back into shape... WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU EVER HEARD SOOOOOOO MUCH ABOUT THE TEXAS RANGERS with THE COWBOYS ALREADY PLAYING GAMES. ......NEVER IS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

HOT DAMN...NOLAN RYAN IS NOW THE MAN !!!!

WELL after all the delays, bickering, and all the LEGAL B...S... ,it is finally official this is RYAN/GREENBURG'S team and the EVIL EMPIRE of TOM HICKS is no longer in charge and we won't have to see that name associated with the team any longer. Hicks has set sports in the metroplex back years and the repercussion will probably hit the DALLAS STARS big time now. I just wish there was someway to remove his name from the STANLEY CUP. Everyone, whether you are a STARS fan or not should wish them luck and hope they get a new owner to replace the RAT HICKS.

BANKRUPTCY JUDGE said that only $75million of bid will go to the creditors. HOWEVER, he is allowing the creditors to go after Hicks other companies, since his ownership group defaulted on the loans. Wow that is great news. He probably made money from this deal, but lets hope this gets most of his money.

CUBAN, probably made out on this deal. It was reported that he bought a lot of the paper from some of the creditors, probably for mere cents on the dollar. He did succeed in driving up the price and as shrewd as he is, he made money from the deal. CUBAN is a genius at business and has made the MAVERICKS a model franchise and his name draws criticism from the league for his progressive thinking. BASEBALL, is flat out scared and intimidated by him. So in a roundabout way, THANKS MARK CUBAN!!

The Day From Hell

Today has been THE DAY FROM HELL for anyone that is a TEXAS RANGER fan. To begin with TOM HICKS, owner of both the Dallas Stars and the Texas Rangers,and other sport venues, such as some obscure soccerr team in EUROPE, has been like a pimple on the butt of all sports fans in Dallas/Ft. Worth and has set the sports scene back nearly 20 years. In fact, on this day in 1993, Robin Ventura charged the mound after a pitch from Nolan Ryan, and what has become one of the most famous photographs in baseball, Nolan has Ventura in a headlock and is punching the crap out of him. IF ONLY NOLAN COULD USE THAT TECHNIQUE TODAY!!!



The group of Dallas Maverick Owner Mark Cuban/ Houston Businessman Jim Crane and the GROUP WHO THOUGHT THEY ALREADY OWNED THE RANGERS, Nolan Ryan/Pittsburg Sports Attorney Chuck Greenburg, gathered for AUCTION of the TEXAS RANGERS at the US BANKRUPTCY COURT in Ft. Worth. This is what it has come down to, a bidding war , winner getting the RANGERS. The real losers in all this could be the FANS. Nolan is a basball legend and current president of the club and deserves alot of the credit for all the success the club is having this season. Let's just say THE FIRST PLACE TEXAS RANGERS. They have been winning with money restraints all season. I can't believe how well they have been playing with all the crap that is going on around them. OH YEAH.....How about Ron Washington for Manager of the Year!! In preseason we were just looking to see how long it would be before he is fired after the off season drug problems.Who the hell knows what, who...anything about the future of this club. TO borrow a line from former Dallas Cowboy Coach BARRY SWITZER..."JUST WIN BABY" For those interested in the outcome of the bid, it may go on into the night. As I write, nothing final. RIGHT UP FRONT, I must tell you I am a DIE HARD SOONER FAN.....have been for nearly 50 yrs. and god willing another 10..20..hopefully 30 years. My calculator isn't handy, so I can't tell how old that would make me. Being from Oklahoma, OSU is....SO,SO. Let's just say my second favorite school in Oklahoma. TODAY...I'm indirectly talking about the SOONERS by way of the DALLAS COWBOYS. Try to keep up. I'm a Barry Switzer fan, bigtime, and care very little for Jimmy Johnson and his hair. Jimmy Johnson is given this title of a great Cowboy coach that should have THREE SUPERBOWL WINS in a row, but Jerry Jones' ego got in the way and Jimmy left. Jerry said any one of 100 people could coach that team to a SUPER BOWL WIN. Well Jimmy got his panties all in a wad and left. In steps Barry Switzer and wins a SUPER BOWL, thus you say, Jerry Jones was right. Give Barry a little credit will you, he didn't rock the boat, players actually enjoyed the game, and it gave Jimmy something to bitch about.

You do understand, their is plenty of past history betweem JIMMY and BARRY... JIMMY was the coach at OSU at the same time Barry coached OU. Barry used to beat him like a drum every year and considering the fact that Jimmy couldn't beat him with Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas in the same backfield, speaks volumes. Oh yeah, Barry is a flake, and when he did his weekly shows on radio while he was the Dallas coach, the local hosts of The Ticket did the over and under on how many "hells" and "damn its" he would use during his show. It was almost always OVER. You could always count on a few references to Billy Simms, The Boz, and the Selmon brothers. He was never known as a disciplinarian, however his players loved him and played their butts off for him. He was one of the boys, and would just as likely be out drinking beer with his players....unfortunately, that was the case with his college players TOO. Oh well, I didn't say he was perfect.

My take on JIMMY'S success as the DALLAS COWBOY coach goes a long way with all the players and draft picks the COWBOYS received from the VIKINGS in the Herschel Walker trade. Hell, they got enough players to field a decient team. I bet JIMMY still sends Herschel a thank you note in his Christmas Card every year.
